The Undersecretariat of Higher Education and the DEMRE (Demre) of the University of Chile reported that, preliminary, the attendance rate for the Winter PAES exam was around 91%, considering the mandatory Reading and Mathematical Proficiency 1 (M1) tests. The scores for this exam will be announced on Friday, July 18, starting at 9:00 a.m.

The PAES Winter 2025, Admission 2026, was administered on June 16, 17, and 18. According to preliminary figures provided by the Department of Evaluation, Measurement, and Educational Registration (DEMRE) of the University of Chile and the Undersecretariat of Higher Education, this exam had an attendance of over 90%, considering the two mandatory tests of Reading Competence and Mathematical Competence 1 (M1).

This winter application of the PAES maintained a stable attendance rate compared to previous years. In 2024, for example, attendance was 91.1%, and in 2023, 90.9%.

Víctor Orellana, Undersecretary of Higher Education, positively evaluated the Winter 2025 PAES for Admissions 2026: "We have a positive assessment of the Winter PAES, which had locations throughout Chile to guarantee access. Despite the weather, prospective students had this new opportunity to take the tests, which is undoubtedly a joint effort by the government and DEMRE, but which, as we have seen, has borne fruit by offering a new opportunity to access higher education."

Meanwhile, Leonor Varas, director of the Department of Educational Evaluation, Measurement, and Registration (DEMRE) at the University of Chile, emphasized that "the attendance figures for the Winter PAES show us that this is an attractive opportunity for applicants to have more and better options when applying, and that despite the weather conditions typical of this time of year, we have managed to create adequate conditions for the testing locations and venues. While this is a small application compared to the end-of-year application, its overall effect of reducing the anxiety caused by a single annual opportunity is very positive."
