Jordan Education Ministry introduces key reforms to overhaul student evaluation

March 25, 2025

Original Article:

Jordan’s Ministry of Education said Sunday it introduced a new national framework for student assessment across all grades, aiming to enhance the evaluation system in line with royal visions and global standards.

In a press statement, the ministry said it has formed a team of experts to analyze current assessments, develop an improvement roadmap, and build capacity to use evaluation results in shaping future education policies.

The new framework incorporates modern assessment methods to accurately determine students' learning levels and educational needs, allowing for targeted remedial plans and enrichment activities.

Key changes in the framework include:

  • Introducing a school readiness test to assess students’ needs at the start of primary education.
  • Improving classroom assessments with competency-based evaluation instead of rote learning.
  • Standardizing national assessments for grades 3, 6, and 9 to enable precise data analysis.
  • Expanding participation in international assessments and linking results to curriculum development.
  • Reforming the General Secondary Education Certificate Examination (Tawjihi) exams by reducing the number of test papers, implementing question banks, and adopting a two-year examination system.
