Peru Ministry of Education announces suspension of classes in Lima surrounded by violent protests

Given the latest events that have arisen in Metropolitan Lima due to the violent acts in the demonstrations, the Regional Directorate of Education of Metropolitan Lima ( DRELM ), of the Ministry of Education ( Minedu ), announced that the school classes in the schools of the Cercado de Lima are suspended on Tuesday, September 13.

Through a statement, which was shared at night, the DRELM pointed out that the measure seeks to prevent any risk situation that affects the physical and mental integrity of students and the educational community.

This measure, taken by the Minedu authorities, also reaches educational institutions of basic, technical, productive and non-university higher education located in Cercado de Lima .

"We urge the directors and promoters of public and private educational institutions in the rest of the capital to remain vigilant and, if necessary, to take the necessary measures to guarantee the safety of students, teachers and administrative staff," he said.

In the Apurímac region there is also a similar panorama regarding face-to-face classes, since after the various violent demonstrations that have taken place in this place, the decision has been made to suspend classes indefinitely with the aim of caring for the student community and teachers.
