At Icfes, we want to strengthen higher education assessment through collaborative participation, transparency, and a collective spirit. To achieve this, it is essential that educational institutions promote the student pre-registration process. We know that higher education assessment cannot be an isolated exercise. It must be integrated into educational projects, guiding decisions, generating quality analysis, and strengthening our commitment to the education of young people," said Elizabeth Blandón Bermúdez, the entity's general director. It
is important to remember that these exams, which are a requirement for obtaining a degree, are aimed at students close to completing their higher education—that is, those who have completed 75% of the credits in their academic program—who will be able to take the Saber Pro or Saber TyT exam, using pencil and paper on-site, on Sunday, November 9.
The pre-registration process for students will run until Friday, August 1. It is important to remember that it is not necessary to have passed 100% of the credits to complete this process. The results of these tests identify the skills university, technical, or technological students who are close to completing their higher education have mastered and which ones they need to strengthen.
The Saber Pro test, in addition to being a graduation requirement, is a standardized instrument that measures the quality of education at Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and provides useful information to those being evaluated regarding the development of important competencies for the workforce. In the case of HEIs, it allows them to review the quality of their academic programs. The Saber Pro exam is also relevant for public policy decision-making in education.
Meanwhile, the Saber TyT test is aimed at students who have completed at least 75% of the credits for their technical and technological programs. This exam is also a graduation requirement.
The tests will assess generic competencies such as quantitative reasoning, written communication, critical reading, citizenship skills, and English. Likewise, some students in the programs will have a specific, mandatory test session.
The regular registration and collection process for pre-registered students will run until August 1. Extraordinary registration and collection will run from Monday, August 4 to Friday, August 22. Schedules will be published on Friday, October 24. Test attendance certificates can be viewed starting Monday, December 1, and individual results can be downloaded starting Friday, February 27, 2026, at www.icfes.gov.co.
