GCE ‘O’ Level results out in Brunei

The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Department of Examinations released the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) October/November 2022 Examination results for thousands of candidates.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Department of Examinations released the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level and International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) October/November 2022 Examination results yesterday.

For the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level, at the national level, 6,135 candidates sat for the examinations, 6,075 of which were school candidates and 60 were private candidates.

At the national level, 1,390 candidates (22.66 per cent) obtained eight ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above. Meanwhile, 2,784 candidates (45.38 per cent) obtained five ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

A total of 1,390 (22.88 per cent) candidates obtained at least eight ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above, while those who obtained at least five ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above are 2,784 (45.83 per cent) candidates. Meanwhile, 3,277 (53.94 per cent) candidates obtained at least four ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

Out of the 5,281 government school candidates, 1,056 (20.00 per cent) obtained at least eight ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above as well as 2,228 (42.19 per cent) candidates obtained at least five ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above, while for private school candidates, 334 (42.07 per cent) obtained at least eight ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above and 556 (70.03 per cent) obtained at least five ‘O’ Levels and IGCSE above.

In addition, 117 (1.91 per cent) candidates achieved Grade A*/A in eight to 11 subjects of which 53 were government school candidates.

Seven out of 49 schools, consisting of six government schools and one private school, have shown an increase of between 0.20 per cent and 13.33 per cent from the 2021 achievement.

While for IGCSE, at national level, the percentage of candidates achieving Grades A-C in the core subjects is between 7.37 per cent and 82.69 per cent.

Meanwhile, 13 other subjects at the national level (Grades A-C) achieved at least 50 per cent.

Students who sat for the examinations can obtain result slips at their schools.

Private candidates can collect their result slips at One Stop Centre, Ground Floor, Block C at the MoE.

For candidates who wish to sit for the Brunei-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level and IGCSE May/June 2023 examinations session, registration is open, and the closing date is February 14.

Meanwhile, school candidates are advised to register through their respective schools.
