Strong understanding of best practices relating to the evaluation of US educational documentation for admissions, placement and transfer credit purposes. Knowledge of common technology and websites used to evaluate credit.

Content knowledge requirements: Institutional catalog and degree pathways, national best practices, knowledge and understanding of the Joint Statement on Transfer Credit, ̽»¨Â¥ Transfer Student Bill of Rights, ̽»¨Â¥ Institutional Bill of Rights & Responsibilities, ̽»¨Â¥’s Guide to Best Practices: Awarding Transfer and Prior Learning Credit.  Experience with academic programs, degree and general education requirements, course articulation and degree audit systems. 

Skill requirements: Excellent research, critical thinking and analysis skills. Attention to detail and documentation. Ability to exercise judgement and find solutions to complex problems. Ability to interpret and apply policy to diverse fluency in the degree audit system. Ability to develop and maintain of effective collaborative working relationships with others.

Ethical requirements: Commitment to consistency, equity and fairness in application of policy and to address innovation and new approaches to serve the best interests of the student; commitment to institutional academic integrity.

Expertise Levels

Entry level: Ability to assess documentation for authenticity and recognition; ability to apply institutional policy with fairness and consistency, ability to enter/review data accurately. 

Intermediate level: Ability to convert practices into equivalency table in institutional degree audit systems; ability to assess the comparability of the nature, content, and level of potential transfer credit to degree programs; ability to clearly articulate institutional policy to internal and external constituencies.

Expert level: Refine and develop policy; maintain currency with innovative trends and alternative transfer credit approaches, including credit earned through alternative means, such as competency-based, distance, and online learning and other applications of technology. Ability to serve on college-wide committees to determine role of transfer credit in academic program or course development.
