Dear Readers,
Not long ago, I went walking and was caught in a storm with no car to jump into, no protection from wind and flying debris—just the will to get home. I had no choice but to move quickly. I would've faced a different outcome if I’d gone out earlier, or heeded the darkening sky and made the deliberate decision to stay in, light a candle, and wait it out.
Sometimes, those step counts can wait.
Both moments required a choice—one reactive, one reflective. We’re often pushed to pick sides, act fast, or define ourselves in absolutes. But "," from the Latin “temperare," to moderate, reminds us there’s power in knowing when to rush and when to reflect. If you have the luxury of time, take it when you can. Moderation is its own kind of courage.
