Congrats to our 2024 Award Recipients 

Every year, ̽»¨Â¥ recognizes a small but powerful group of leaders who have gone above and beyond in their contributions to ̽»¨Â¥ and the professions we serve.  This year, we are pleased to celebrate nine outstanding individuals who have helped shape our work, mentor future leaders, and contribute to ̽»¨Â¥’s mission. 

 

Honorary Membership 

In recognition of a member’s active involvement with and contributions to ̽»¨Â¥. 

  • LeRoy Rooker, ̽»¨Â¥
    LeRoy is the nation's leading authority on the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and is currently a Senior Fellow in ̽»¨Â¥'s Research & Policy Division. 
  • David H. Kalsbeek, PhD, DePaul University
    David is SEM Consultant at Human Capital Research Company and Senior Vice President for Enrollment Management & Marketing (emeritus) at DePaul University.
  • Sue Van Voorhis, University of Minnesota
    Sue is a Specialist Leader at Deloitte. She previously served as Associate Vice Provost and University Registrar for the University of Minnesota and Assistant Registrar at Montana State University-Bozeman.

Award for Excellence in International Education 

In recognition of outstanding contributions to international education. 

  • LesLee Clauson Eicher, Seattle University
    LesLee has been an International Credential Evaluator since the 1980s and is the co-award-winner of the 2020 IERF Sepmeyer Award for Excellence in Credential Evaluation Research. 

Emerging Leader Award 

In recognition of exceptional or unique contributions to ̽»¨Â¥ that demonstrate leadership acumen.

  • Sasha Suzuki, Wake Forest University
    Sasha is Associate University Registrar at Wake Forest University. She serves as vice-chair of ̽»¨Â¥’s Member Engagement Committee and is an active member of multiple ̽»¨Â¥ committees and caucuses.

Outstanding Mentor Award 

In recognition of exceptional investment in the mentorship, guidance, and development of others. 

  • Helen B. Garrett, EdD, University of Washington
    Helen is the University of Washington’s inaugural University Registrar and Chief Officer of Enrollment Information Services. She is a national trainer on FERPA and has served in numerous leadership positions in state, regional, and national associations.

Thomas A. Bilger Award 

In recognition of contributing 7+ years of vision, service, and/or leadership to ̽»¨Â¥.

  • Marc Booker, University of Phoenix
    Marc is Vice Provost for Strategy at the University of Phoenix. Since 2009, Marc has been a regular speaker, contributor, and subject matter expert at national and regional conferences. 
  • Erin Mason, University of Utah
    Erin is University Registrar at the University of Utah. She serves as ̽»¨Â¥’s vice-chair of Member Engagement and is a founding member of the ̽»¨Â¥ Women’s Caucus. 
  • Brenda Schumann, The University of Texas at Austin
    Brenda is Assistant Vice Provost for Enrollment Services and University Registrar at the University of Texas at Austin. She is an active leader and member at ̽»¨Â¥, SACRAO, and TACRAO.
